The inaugural day of the thirty-sixth edition of Cersaie has experienced one of the most important moments at Palazzo Re Enzo, in the heart of Bologna, with the international press conference that saw the participation of almost 200 journalists from all over the world. Here the vice president Emilio Mussini presented the data of the sector, starting from a 2017 that has increased the value of Italian production: “We have exceeded the 5.5 billion total turnover, which has been growing for the past six years.
Mussini remembers how the spaces were all sold out six months before the opening, despite the 5,000 square meters more of the new pavilions that brought the exhibition area to 161,000 square meters. And this is only the first phase of a redevelopment that, in 2024, will bring the exhibition area to 270,000 square meters. Among the pavilions there are 840 exhibitors, coming from 40 countries, and 181 bathroom furniture exhibitors, with the representation of complete Italian parquet. Also included some important companies that had not participated in some previous editions. The vice president of Confindustria Ceramica then covered the most important aspects of the event, also recalling the importance of architecture competitions.

Confindustria Ceramica’s communications manager Andrea Serri illustrated the evolution of the integrated communication system that started last year with the launch of the website and which this year is enriched by the new product galleries and project gallery. The manager of the promotional activities of Confindustria Ceramica and Cersaie Cristina Faedi, on the other hand, presented the new trends presented at Cersaie, especially in terms of colors, formats and laying patterns. At the end of the conference the ceremony of delivery of the Ceramics of Italy Journalism Award 2018 took place . The award, at the XXIII edition, is awarded to the foreign journalist who created the best article published on Cersaie and on the Italian ceramic tile industry, published in foreign magazines.
