In this issue, we explore the Japanese design aesthetic through the much-read, In Praise of Shadows, an essay by author Jun’ichirō Tanizaki which inspires architects and designers from all over the world, an example of timeless, classic design literature. DAG has recently acquired painter Jamini Roy’s residence with the aim of creating India’s first single-artist museum. We present a report about the future plans of this project. Architect Vikas Dilawari, a specialist in restoration has worked on both the Bhau Daji and CSMVS for their 150th and 100th-anniversary restorations, read more about it in our project section.
