IGNITE, the International Congress on Ceramics Innovation, to Address the Challenges Shaping the Future of the Industry

  • The congress, organised by the Castellón Chamber of Commerce on 28 and 29 September, will foster networking among participants.

Castellón will once again become a focal point for international debate on the future of ceramics with the celebration of IGNITE – the International Congress on Ceramics Innovation, organised by the Chamber of Commerce of Castellón. Taking place on 28 and 29 September, the congress will bring together research, industrial case studies and strategic insights addressing the transformation of the global ceramics industry.

The congress has been designed to connect scientific and technological knowledge with the real needs of businesses, while fostering collaboration across the ceramics value chain.

Over two days, IGNITE will bring together manufacturers, suppliers, industry executives, researchers, architects, designers and professionals from key international markets. Together, they will examine the changes shaping an industry facing major energy, environmental, technological, economic, and commercial challenges.

The programme will feature 35 presentations selected through the international call for papers, 15 scientific posters, five keynote lectures, and five panel discussions. The organisers expect the participation of professionals and experts connected with 15 countries, further reinforcing the international character of a congress conceived as a platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration and the creation of new opportunities.

Five Strategic Themes to Adress the Transformation of the Industry

IGNITE’s programme will be structured around five major strategic themes: real and competitive decarbonisation; in-depth industrial digitalisation; advanced ceramic materials and their new applications in design and architecture; integral sustainability and industrial circularity; and industrial geopolitics and markets.

Together, these five themes will provide a comprehensive perspective on the future of the ceramics industry. The congress will examine not only the evolution of manufacturing processes, but also new regulatory requirements, changes in international markets, the emergence of new competitors, digital transformation, and the opportunities offered by advanced ceramic materials in fields such as construction, architecture and design.

Energy transition will be one of the programme’s central themes. The ceramics industry must move towards lower-emission production systems while maintaining its competitiveness, export capacity and product quality. In this context, the congress will explore solutions such as process electrification, the use of hydrogen and biomass, improvements in kiln energy efficiency, and the adoption of new firing technologies.

Networking:A Core Element of IGNITE

Alongside its programme of presentations, key note lectures and panel discussions, IGNITE will place networking at theheartofthe congress. Its aim is to facilitate direct interaction among participants, encourage the exchange of knowledge and experience, and fosterstrategicbusiness, technological and commercialpartnerships.

The congress will feature a dedicated networking area designed specifically for professional meetings. This space will enable participants to hold pre-arranged one-to-one meetings or establish new professional contacts throughout the different congress activities.

In this way, IGNITE is positioned as an international platform not only for knowledge exchange, but also for building lasting partnerships, exploring new projects, and creating new opportunities for collaboration and business.

Castellón as an International Benchmark for the Ceramics Industry

Through this initiative, the Chamber of Commerce of Castellón aims to consolidate an international platform from which to anticipate the industry’s future challenges, showcase the sector’s capacity for innovation, and bring scientific advances closer to the real needs of businesses.

A congress designed to anticipate market developments, promote innovation, and transform connections between companies and professionals into new opportunities for collaboration and business. Further information, the programme and registration are available at ignitecongress.com.
