In 1919, German architect Gropius established Staatliches Bauhaus, a faculty dedicated to uniting all branches of the humanities under one roof. The school acted as a hub for Europe’s most experimental creatives, with well-known artists like Albers, Kandinsky, and Klee offering their expertise as instructors. Founded by Gropius, the varsity eventually morphed into its own modern artistic movement characterized by its unique approach to architecture and style.

Bauhaus Architecture is characterized by a harmonious balance of geometric shapes and an emphasis on function and directness over ornamentation. Bauhaus buildings emphasized geometric forms, flat roofs, modern materials (like steel, glass, and concrete), and simplified color schemes typically limited to white, grey, beige and black.
